These Book Marketing Ideas Never Work!

Self-publishing and Kindle Direct Publishing has changed the way people write and publish books; literally gone are the days when traditional publishing was the only option. Traditional publishing continues to be a great way of publishing books but the time it takes, the quality it requires and the kind of patience it needs is not something that is found in every author.

Self-publishing and KDP are the future of publishing and many authors in the west are making the best use of these facilities. KDP has features where authors receive huge bonuses worth 2500USD on monthly basis, well a lot of Indian authors fail to earn so much in their lifetime by selling their books but why?

Book marketing ideas are the paradigm that makes all the difference; in the west, authors make use of analytics and data whereas, in India, authors rely mostly on emotional appeal for selling their books.

Let's have a look at the five or more book marketing ideas Indian authors pursue which leads to no sales:

Posting About Your Book on Your Facebook Timeline Continuously: Well, this is not book marketing but Spamming. Yes! By posting about your book continuously on your timeline you are only making it difficult for your friends to believe in your work. If your work is so good then let others do the word of mouth marketing for you. Please stop posting quotes from every other page on your Facebook Timeline better go ahead with a Facebook Page.

Getting Into People's Inbox: Not only timeline bombing some people even tend to sell their books through the inbox. Dude, please stop there, right now. Not everyone is a reader and not everyone on Facebook is your friend. Please abide from sending book details in message box because it might put off serious readers as well.

Tagging popular authors in your posts: Even the most popular authors are scared about their book sales hence your idea of dragging them into your book promotional posts only to boost your sales will never work. on the contrary, such posts will put these writers off and they might end up blocking you from their Facebook or Instagram account. Let the slow and steady win the race.

Buy for a Buy: Certainly, a lot of first-timers have stoop so low that it can be undone now. A lot of first time authors are getting in touch with popular authors and asking them to buy his or her book and saying if you do, I will buy your book too. Well, this is certainly not going to work because there are hardly any popular author who will be interested in betting his or her money on first-time authors. A lot of them are snob hence you will only get exposed on social media or blocked.

The Internet is littered with Book Marketing Ideas that Actually Works, all you need to do is set-up a plan and execute them with patience. Selling books when you are new takes time, you will have to work on a daily basis without expecting results but one day all of this start to bear fruits and you will become one of the most popular authors in India.

Just have patience and keep working on your book and yes do not forget to not do any of the things listed in this article. Good Luck.
